Regular Season Round 3: Athleta - Mellieha 82-84

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Athleta (2-1) in Gzira on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Mellieha (3-0) 84-82. Mellieha looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Tedrick Wolfe (196-1997, college: Wayland Baptist) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Kwame Thompson (180-1992, college: Newbury) helped adding 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Wolfe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American guard Malik Riddle (193-1999, college: HSU) with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and the former international forward Matthew Gouder (194-1998) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mellieha are looking forward to face Hibernians (#4) in Paola in the next round. Athleta will play on the road against Depiro in Mtarfa and is hoping to win this game.
