Regular Season Round 8: Gdynia - Polkowice 68-69

The most exciting game of round 8 in the OBLK took place in Gdynia. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th rankedGdynia (5-3) to top-ranked Polkowice (7-0) 69-68 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gdynia. Polkowice made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Gdynia outrebounded Polkowice 39-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Slovenian guard Zala Friskovec (179-1999) saved the victory by scoring 26 points. Serbian-Bosnian center Dragana Stankovic (195-1995) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Rennia Davis (188-1999, college: Tennessee) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Slovakian guard Barbora Wrzesinski (178-1994) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Gdynia. Four Gdynia players scored in double figures. Gdynia's coach Philip Mestdagh tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Polkowice have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Gdynia at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost.
