Regular Season Round 13: Pyrinto - PeKa 71-94

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tampere. Third rankedPeli-Karhut faced 4th placed Tampereen Pyrinto . Guests from Kotka (8-4) smashed host Tampereen Pyrinto (7-6) 94-71 . The game was mostly controlled by PeKa. Pyrinto managed to win fourth quarter 22-14 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tampereen Pyrinto 's 26. Peli-Karhut forced 20 Tampereen Pyrinto turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward DaNasia Hood (185, college: Texas St.) fired a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Roosa Kosonen (183-2000) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Peli-Karhut's coach Mika Haakana felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ellen Jarvinen (175-1999) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Saana Kujala (184-2002) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. PeKa have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 8-4 record having four points less than leader ToPo. Pyrinto at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost.
