Regular Season Round 12: Tormes - Gijon Circulo 100-73

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Tormes (11-1) outplayed 4th ranked Gijon Circulo (9-3) in Salamanca 100-73 on Sunday. Tormes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gijon Circulo's 36. The winners were led by guard Acoydan McCarthy (197-1999) who scored that evening 25 points and 6 assists and Mark Hetor (197-2001) supported him with 10 points and 17 rebounds. Five Tormes players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Sharif Idris (204-1999) did not help to save the game for Gijon Circulo. Forward Fernando Fernandez (201-1989, college: HLGU) added 16 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tormes have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Gijon Circulo dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Tormes will meet league's leader La Leonesa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gijon Circulo will play against Chantada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
