Not a big story in a game when 14th rankedGran Canaria (3-9) lost to fifth ranked Gernika (8-4) in Las Palmas 55-68 on Sunday. Gernika outrebounded Gran Canaria 37-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Italian power forward Sara Madera (187-2000) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Stephanie Watts (180-1997, college: UNC) supported her with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds by Senegalese forward Sokhna Fall (185-2003, college: Casper CC) did not help to save the game for Gran Canaria . Guard Iris Mbulito (183-1999, college: LIU Brooklyn) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Gernika moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Girona. Loser Gran Canaria keeps the fourteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Celta Zorka.
