Regular Season Round 15: Gomel 2 - BC Minsk 50-123

Premier League top team - BC Minsk (14-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Gomel 2 (1-13) 123-50. BC Minsk dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Gomel 2's 38. BC Minsk forced 40 Gomel 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Minsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 45 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Gomel 2's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when BC Minsk made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was swingman Daryna Bachkarova (185-2000, college: CMU) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Yana Makutsa (197-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four BC Minsk players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Arina Novitskaya who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and Tatiana Gorelikova (-2007) added 7 points and 7 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for BC Minsk. They maintain first place with 14-0 record. Gomel 2 lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. They share it with Brest. BC Minsk will meet at home Olimpia (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gomel 2 will play against Brest (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
