Regular Season Round 23: Nitra - Lucenec 98-90

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Lucenec (7-14) was defeated on the road by bottom-ranked Nitra (3-18) 98-90 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Czech forward Eduard Kotasek (188-1998) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 assists. American swingman James Jordan (197-1999, college: CMU) helped adding 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Montenegrin power forward Vasilije Knezevic (202-1996) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and American point guard Shamar Givance (179-1999, college: UTEP) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Nitra maintains ninth place with 3-18 record. Lucenec lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Nitra will meet higher ranked Spisski Rytieri (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lucenec will play against Handlova and hope to secure a win.
