There was a surprise result when ninth rankedBnei Hertzeliya (4-4) beat on the road 4th placed Kiryat Ata (6-4) 87-74 on Monday. Bnei Hertzeliya made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Canadian guard Marcus Carr (188-1999, college: Texas) who scored 33 points (!!!). Guard Ethan Butler (190-2002) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Four Bnei Hertzeliya players scored in double figures. Bnei Hertzeliya's coach Dan Shamir used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American guard James Batemon (185-1997, college: LMU) produced 25 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Amin Stevens (203-1990, college: FAMU) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Bnei Hertzeliya moved-up to seventh place. Loser Kiryat Ata keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Bnei Hertzeliya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kiryat Ata will play against H.Haifa (#11) and hope to secure a win.
