Regular Season Round 15: Angers - Bretagne 71-73

Date: February 1, 2024
There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Bretagne (4-11) edged on the road 9th ranked Angers (5-10) 73-71 on Thursday. Bretagne dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Angers' 30. It was an exceptional evening for American-Nigerian forward Amy Okonkwo (188-1996, college: TCU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Roxy Barahman (173-1998, college: Yale) accounted for 26 points for the winning side. American swingman Jasmine Bailey (176-1990, college: UIC) came up with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Guinean forward Masseny Kaba (191-1998, college: UCF) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Angers in the defeat. Four Angers players scored in double figures. Angers' coach Aurelie Bonnan rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bretagne moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Roche. Angers lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Bretagne will meet higher ranked Tarbes (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angers will play against Charnay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
