There was no surprise when 11th rankedMonferrato (6-19) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Piacenza (11-14) 89-76 on Saturday. Piacenza looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Giovanni Veronesi (198-1998, agency: SLN) stepped up and scored 30 points and 5 assists for the winners and Michele Serpilli (201-1999) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Piacenza's coach Stefano Salieri used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Andrea Calzavara (195-2001) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American Dalton Pepper (197-1990, college: Temple, agency: SLN) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Monferrato players scored in double figures. Piacenza moved-up to seventh place. Loser Monferrato dropped to the tenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Agrigento.
