Regular Season Round 7: Vera - Astrali 77-122

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi:Astrali (#6) and Vera (#4). Vera was crushed at home by 45 points 77-122 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Astrali led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Vera 's 36. They outrebounded Vera 54-28 including a 47-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astrali looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Vera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Chris Whitaker (190-1999, college: Rogers St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Lorenzo McGhee (196, college: MSUM) helped adding 28 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side guard Azariah Seay (196-1999, college: UTPB) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and center Christian Stewart (201, college: BSC, agency: Interperformances) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Five Astrali and four Vera players scored in double figures. Vera's coach Davit Gasitashvili gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Astrali (2-5) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Vera. Vera lost fourth consecutive game.
