Regular Season Round 21: Nice - Chartres 89-68

The game between third rankedChartres (15-6) and seventh ranked Nice (11-10) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Chartres was crushed by Nice in Nice 89-68 . It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Chartres. Nice forced 22 Chartres turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Cornelia Fondren (173-1993, college: Syracuse, agency: Areus Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Nigerian center Blessing Ejiofor (196-1998, college: WVU, agency: Areus Sports) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Fondren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Nice players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Marine Debaut (168-1994) who recorded 14 points and point guard Emma Peytour-Raison (172-2000) added 13 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nice have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with La Tronche. Chartres at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Nice is looking forward to face Feytiat (#9) at home in the next round. Chartres will play against the league's leader Aulnoye (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
