Regular Season Round 17: Depiro - Starlites 83-75

Third defeat of league's leader Starlites (11-3) against fifth ranked Depiro (6-8) 83-75 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Starlites. Depiro dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Starlites' 18. They outrebounded Starlites 46-21 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Center Kameron Rooks (216-1995, college: SDSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 24 rebounds. Point guard Cameron Cornelius (183-1992, college: MSSU, agency: Diamond Sports) contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Guard Christian Hinckson (201-1999, college: Binghamton) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Davonte Craven (203-1999, college: Rust) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Starlites. Depiro maintains fifth place with 6-8 record. Defending champion Starlites dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mellieha. Starlites will play next round against Valletta F. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Depiro will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Athleta in Gzira.
