Rather expected game when 4th ranked Lithuanian Taurage (8-6) was crushed on the road by second ranked Latvian Gulbene (8-1) 66-47 on Friday. The game without a history. Gulbene led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Ralfs Aleksandrovs (180) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Matiss Lacis (-2008) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Arnas Maciunas produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and Kasparas Tranelis added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Gulbene have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-1 record having just seventeen point less than leader Rakvere. Loser Taurage keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Gulbene will meet higher ranked Panevezio in the next round. Taurage will have a break next round.
