Very predictable result when fifth rankedGipuzkoa (19-8) won against 15th ranked Melilla (9-18) in San Sebastian 88-80 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (204-1995, college: NM State) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Alex Barcello (188-1998, college: BYU) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side. American forward Hasan Varence (198-1997, college: Ohio Dominican) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-1991, college: TAMUCC) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively for Melilla in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gipuzkoa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Burgos SP and Lleida. Melilla lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 18 games lost.
