Second Stage Round 9: Poissy - Besancon 95-96

There was a minor upset when their close opponentPoissy (11-21) was edged at home by thirteenth ranked Besancon (10-22) 96-95 on Saturday. Besancon shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Anthony Da Silva (185-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 assists. American Mykal Riley (198-1985, college: Alabama) chipped in 18 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian forward Anthony Elechi (203-1993, college: Morehead St.) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and Swiss guard Noah Burrell (193-1997) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Five Besancon and four Poissy players scored in double figures. Poissy's coach Becaye N'Diaye rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Besancon maintains thirteenth place with 10-22 record, which they share with Berck. Poissy lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Feurs. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
