Regular Season Round 29: Barca CBS - Girona 72-70

There was an upset in Barcelona where 4th placed Girona (17-13) was edged by thirteenth ranked Barca CBS (11-18) 72-70 on Sunday. Barca CBS made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Croatian guard Karla Erjavec (178-1999, college: Miami, FL) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and the former international forward Paula Ginzo (187-1998) chipped in 16 points. Four Barca CBS players scored in double figures. Swedish power forward Regan Magarity (190-1996, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 20 points and Australian guard Lauren Nicholson (183-1993, college: SMC) scored 19 points. Girona's coach Laura Antoja rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barca CBS moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Araski. Loser Girona keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. Barca CBS will meet higher ranked Zaragoza (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Girona will play against Gran Canaria and hope to secure a win.
