There was a small surprise when twelfth rankedCharleville-Mezieres (4-6) defeated at home 9th ranked Berck (4-6) 94-88 on Friday. Charleville made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Rosaire Malonga (188-1995) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists to lead the effort and Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Kovanusic (204-1993) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Even 26 points and 5 assists by point guard Louis Weber (186-1998) did not help to save the game for Berck . Swingman Adrien Henocq (194-1996) added 21 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Charleville-Mezieres have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Berck . Berck lost third consecutive game. Charleville will meet Metz (#12) on the road in the next round. Berck will play against Boulogne (#3) and hope to secure a win.
