The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gomel 2 in Minsk on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Gorizont 2 84-35. Gorizont 2 held Gomel 2 to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Gorizont 2 forced 24 Gomel 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BC Minsk's coach Andrey Vavleu felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Yana Paraschenko (180-2005) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Polina Dryuk came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for BC Minsk Youth in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gorizont will meet at home Gomel in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BC Minsk Youth will play against Olimpia in Grodno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last game of round 1 Brest beat Victoria on the road 56-46.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 3 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals by Lyudmila Karinchuk of Brest.
