Cibona celebrate second straight A1 title - Jun 4, 2013

Cibona claimed the third straight win against Zadar in the title series and clinched A1 crown. It was the second straight A1 title for the team. Jerel Blassingame (175-PG-81, college: UNLV) nailed 20 points to lead the winners tonight.
Cibona set the tone early in this one. The hosts exploded with 35 points in the opening quarter to take a 13-point lead. Cibona stayed in charge throughout the second period. The home team arrived at halftime up by 7 points 49:42. Cibona did not allow Zadar any closer in the third period. The defending champions accounted for a 72:64 lead at the final intermission. Cibona poured in 29 points in the fourth quarter and cruised to the triumph at the end. Dario Saric (208-F/C-94, agency: XL Basketball Agency) finished with 19 points, while D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) contributed 18 points in the victory. Ante Delas (200-G/F-88, agency: XL Basketball Agency) responded with 17 points for Zadar. Toni Prostran (181-G-91) chipped in 13 points in the loss.

Cibona clinch Kresimir Cosic Cup title - Feb 7, 2013

Cibona claimed the Kresimir Cosic Cup title. They held off Cedevita in a dramatic overtime battle. Andrija Zizic (207-C-80, agency: Beo Basket) and D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) stepped up with 21 points each to pace the winners.
Cibona eked out a narrow 16:15 lead after ten minutes of action. Cedevita stiffened defensively in the second frame. They limited Cibona to 12 points in the period to surge ahead for a 30:28 halftime advantage. Cedevita maintained the lead throughout the third term. They recorded a 47:44 advantage heading into the fourth frame. But Cibona lived up to the challenge. They came up strong in the fourth period denying the deficit. The teams stayed close and entered the final seconds tied at 66. Jerel Blassingame (175-PG-81, college: UNLV) had a chance to win it for Cibona in regulation but missed a late jumper. Cedevita pulled ahead in the extra period and looked favourites to win it but Sandro Nicevic turned things around. He drained a crucial basket with fractions of a second left to seal the victory for Cibona. Jerel Blassingame provided 14 points for the winners. Bracey Wright (191-G-84, agency: Priority Sports, college: Indiana) answered with 19 points for Cedevita. Derwin Kitchen (193-PG-86, college: Florida St.) and Miro Bilan (215-C-89) had 16 points each in the loss.

Cedevita seniors beat Cibona 91-77, but Supercup belongs to reigning Croatian champ - Sep 24, 2012

Croatian Supercup was played yesterday. There were three games and Cibona won the Supercup title thanks to victories by their cadet and junior teams. Cibona cadets smashed Cedevita cadets 92-62 (23-16, 31-14, 17-11 21-21). Julijan Zadravec (184-SG-97) and Nik Slavica (97) scored 18 points each for the winners.
Cibona juniors also celebrated yesterday. They handed 77-46 (14-13, 26-6, 19-15, 18-12) loss to Cedevita juniors. Mateo Jurkovic (190-G-95) and Lovro Mazalin (198-SF-97) scored 24 and 20 points respectively for the winners.
In the last game of the day Cedevita seniors outplayed Cibona 91-77. The Euroleague newcomer shined in the second half to beat the reigning Croatian champion (quarters: 19-20, 22-24, 23-13, 27-20). Marques Green (167-PG-82, college: St.Bonaventure) top-scored in victory with 20 points. In Cibona, D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) responded with 13. Supercup was held at Drazen Petrovic arena in Zagreb.
