An interesting game for Ragusa (7-1) which played road game in Pozega against 4th ranked Pozega (5-3). Second ranked Ragusa managed to get a 14-point victory 66-52. Ragusa forced 25 Pozega turnovers. Strangely Pozega outrebounded Ragusa 45-29 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Iva Todoric (174-1993) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 8 steals. The former international forward Lea Hajdin (181-1998, agency: BIG) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Serbian point guard Martina Kujundzic (172-2001) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for Pozega. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader Tresnjevka. Pozega at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Ragusa are looking forward to face Zadar Plus (#4) at home in the next round. Pozega will play against Zadar and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Premijer Liga top team - Tresnjevka (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Rijeka (3-5) in Zagreb 81-58. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international power forward Dorja Zaja (190-2004) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Nina Novak who added 17 points during the contest. Power forward Josipa Tuftan (187-2001) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Tresnjevka have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Rijeka at the other side keeps the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Zadar. Tresnjevka will play against Sibenik (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rijeka will play against Pula-Orca (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Zagreb between Zadar and Pula-Orca. Tenth ranked Zadar (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Pula-Orca (2-6). Zadar managed to escape with a 2-point win 87-85 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Tea Turic who scored that evening 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds by Karolina Skare did not help to save the game for Pula-Orca. Zadar moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Rijeka. Pula-Orca lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with KAZL Split. Zadar will meet at home higher ranked Pozega (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pula-Orca will play against Rijeka (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Zagreb beat Brod na Savi on the road 68-58. Medvescak lost to Sibenik on its own court 71-78. KAZL Split was outscored by Zadar Plus in a road game 63-82.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 20 points and 21 rebounds by Katarina Trehub of Zadar Plus.
