Strangely KAZL Split outrebounded Brod na Savi 43-27 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Brod na Savi looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Kiara Jackson (170-2003, college: UNLV) had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 12 steals to lead the charge for the winners and chipped in 32 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The former international center Emilija Podrug (190-1979) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KAZL Split will play next round against strong Pozega trying to get back on the winning streak. Brod na Savi will try to continue on its current victory against Tresnjevka in Zagreb.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Zagreb: Tresnjevka and Medvescak. Medvescak was smashed at home by 82 points 39-121 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Sara Heljic supported her with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 12 points by American guard Kiara Jackson (170-2003, college: UNLV) did not help to save the game for Medvescak. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tresnjevka will play against Brod na Savi in Slavonski Brod in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Medvescak will play on the road against Sibenik to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Zadar was also quite interesting. Ragusa played at the court of Zadar Plus. Ragusa defeated Zadar Plus 86-74 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Iva Todoric who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Ragusa's coach Simona Soda used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Brooke Flowers produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks for the hosts. Ragusa will meet at home Rijeka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zadar Plus' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Zadar to the arena Zadar.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: Zagreb destroyed Rijeka on the opponent's court 102-62. Pozega outscored Zadar in a home game 90-67. Sibenik rolled over Split on the road 84-48.
