Ragusa (5-1) recorded its first loss in Slavonski Brod on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Brod na Savi (5-1) 63-49. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ragusa. Brod na Savi forced 25 Ragusa turnovers. Strangely Ragusa outrebounded Brod na Savi 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Kiara Jackson (170-2003, college: UNLV) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Iva Todoric (174-1993) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Brod na Savi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sibenik and Ragusa. Brod na Savi is looking forward to face Rijeka (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Ragusa will play against Pozega (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between sixth ranked Zagreb and 5th ranked Pozega where Zagreb (4-2) beat Pozega (3-3) on the road 88-74. It was a good game for Bosnian point guard Dragana Domuzin (174-2000) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Lana Packovski contributed with 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Kiara Jackson (170-2003, college: UNLV) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for Pozega. Pozega's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zagreb moved-up to fifth place. Pozega lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Rijeka. Zagreb will play against Zadar (#8) at home in the next round. Pozega will play against Ragusa in Dubrovnik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Medvescak (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 61-56 loss to seventh ranked Rijeka (3-3) in Zagreb on Saturday evening. Dorotea Brandic scored 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Bruna Maricic with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rijeka have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pozega. Medvescak at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Split. Rijeka will meet at home league's second-placed Brod na Savi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Medvescak will play against Split (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
