Channon Fluker claims EWBL Hoops Agents weekly honour

American Channon Fluker (193-C-97) had a very impressive game in the last round for Young Angels and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 24-year old center had a double-double of 34 points and fourteen rebounds, while her team crushed SBS Ostrava (#5, 1-3) with 23-point margin 88-65. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Young Angels moved-up to the 4th position in EWBL. Young Angels is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. Fluker turned to be Young Angels' top player in her first season with the team. California State University Northridge graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fluker is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.5ppg and leads league in rebounds with 12.8rpg. Fluker is in league's top in and averages solid 2.3bpg and 65.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Young Angels' star - 23-year old American guard Valerie Higgins (185-G-98, agency: LBM Management). Higgins impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Young Angels lost that game 72-78 to the higher-ranked Rostov (#1, 4-1). This loss caused Young Angels to drop to 10th position in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Higgins is a newcomer at Young Angels and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 7.8rpg and 3.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was Livija Sakeviciute (188-C-99) of Kibirkstis (#3). Sakeviciute showcased her all-around game by recording 16 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. She was a key player of Kibirkstis, leading her team to a 70-59 win against Olimpia (#6, 0-5). Kibirkstis needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Sakeviciute has a very solid season. In 5 games in EWBL she scored 12.4ppg.
