Round 4: TTT Riga lose Siauliai

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The biggest surprise took place in Siauliai where host Lithuanian Siauliai (1-1) beat league's leader Latvian TTT Riga (1-1) 76-72 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Siauliai had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Latvian forward Ruta Stipra (188-1994) fired 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Danguole Pupkeviciute (172-2004) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Kate Karlina Kreslina (184-1996, college: Fordham) produced 31 points for lost side. Siauliai keeps a position of league leader, which they share with TTT Riga and SBS Ostrava.
The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Czech SBS Ostrava as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (TTT Riga) loss. SBS Ostrava smashed their close opponent Lithuanian Siauliai at home 85-64. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Anacia Wilkinson contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. SBS Ostrava's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Danguole Pupkeviciute (172-2004) replied with 17 points and 7 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for Siauliai. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with TTT Riga and Siauliai.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Czech SBS Ostrava (1-1) on the court of first ranked Latvian TTT Riga on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by TTT Riga 66-59. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of Estonian swingman Estere Petrus (174-2006) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Kate Karlina Kreslina (184-1996, college: Fordham) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Anacia Wilkinson (188-1997, college: Tenn Tech) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Defending Latvian champion maintains first position with 1-1 record, which they share with Siauliai and SBS Ostrava.

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Czech SBS Ostrava as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (TTT Riga) loss. SBS Ostrava smashed their close opponent Lithuanian Siauliai at home 85-64. It was a key game for the top position in the league. SBS Ostrava dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Siauliai's 22. SBS Ostrava forced 20 Siauliai turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Siauliai's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Anacia Wilkinson (188-1997, college: Tenn Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four SBS Ostrava players scored in double figures. SBS Ostrava's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Danguole Pupkeviciute (172-2004) replied with 17 points and 7 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and forward Brigita Rimkeviciute (181-2005) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Siauliai. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with TTT Riga and Siauliai.
