NM1: Lille and Bordeaux advance to Pro B - May 25, 2009
French third division (NM1) finished yesterday. Lille is the champion with 28 wins in 34 games. Second place, which is also enough for Pro B 09/10, is reserved for Bordeaux. Actually the third ranked Fos Ouest has the same digits, but Bordeaux registered better score in two games.
In the last round of NM1 Lille cruised past Chalons 71-52. Bordeaux faced with huge road defeat against Get Vosges 65-92. That game was totally unimportant for Bordeaux, who booked a spot for Pro B after 33rd round. Jason Bach (198-F-87) was a key player for Get Vosges this week-end nailing 30 points. Laurent Correa (197-F-83, college: Western St.) was behind him with 16, while Matt Webster (203-F-84, college: Evansville) added 13 pts. Robert Strickland (200-F-82, college: Charleston Univ.) led the scorers in loss with 17 points. Joseph Owona (205-C-76) had 14 and Germain Siraudin (190-F-88) contributed with one point less.
So Lille and Bordeaux are the two top ranked teams, Fos Ouest is third and Challans finished the season on the 4th place. On the other side of the standings we have CFBB with poor 5-29 (bottom). Juvisy has two wins more, what is not enough for any better than 17th place.
