They took advantage of Challans loss an Angers. With Denain downed in St-Chamond, Reims' followers appear exhausted over the last days even if Le Puy did the job against the ESSL Angers. Over the 5 last games, those teams summed 9 losses and none could try to join Reims handicapped by Herve Jalce's injury. As a consequence, the upcoming playoffs will look very tight, Boulogne, Chalons, Blois and Angers could even steal home court advantage for the quarter finals. Angers and Blois' handled nicely their complicated games of the week and their experience could be decisive for the next deadlines. Boulogne erased its last week's loss in Cognac and shows a 12w-4d return phase balance. The maritims rely on a bright collective illustarted by 32 assists against Longwy and the best average of the league (18.2 apg). NM1 Final four: Boulogne reaches ProB - May 31, 2010 The maritims overcame St-Quentin then the Angers BC to win the NM1 title and grab the ticket to the upper level. Twice the defensive effort was decisive, against St-Quentin, coach Castano's boys forced their opponent to shoot at 41% and allowed them only 45pts after 3 quarters. The final 10 minutes almost put shadow on that partition (16-22) but Ronald Yates (29pts 65%, 8rbs) and Tony Ramphort (12pts, 5rbs, 3ass) nailed precious baskets. A few minutes after, Angers BC started its semi-final against Challans. The Bourty's team posted 23 pts in the first quarter but Angers soon replied. While Olivier Sulpice (21pts 80%, 7rbs, 5ass, 3stl) got unstoppable, his partners strenghtened their defense to contain Challans' collective abilities. After another complicated third QT (22-23), Angers finally joined Boulogne for the title. The 313th and last NM1 game of the year saw the regular season's sixth (Boulogne) face its follower, Angers BC, seventh. In addition with a good management of pressure, the experienced and upper level familiar players of both roster allowed those teams to drive their way to the final. At the jump ball, Angers BC silenced Boulogne till minute 8 (2-13). A pretence as the maritims reversed the situation almost until the end of the game. Angers nerver found the target and ended the game with a sad 26% shooting efficiency. Boulogne's defensive was worth its weight after Chalons' 58pts in quarters and the three first Qts against St-Quentin. Yates, stuck in Angers' claws (0pts), got releived by Etienne Plateau's show (22pst 6/10 3pts, 6rbs), plus Ramphort (14pts) and Patiejaunas (9pts, 6rbs, 6ass) who prove the efficiency of the nordist backcourt. If Boulogne satisfies the financial authorities (as Reims/Chalons), there will be an odd situation in the Pas-De-Calais next year. Boulgne's neighbour town, the NM1 well-known Le Portel, is already playing in ProB but using in Boulogne's arena as they are expecting the building of their own hall for 2011. Odd but perfect for the local basket-ball addicts!
