[ProA Final] : Nancy is the '08 champion
Nancy - Roanne 84-53 (23-14, 22-20, 21-9, 18-10)
Nancy: Dowdell 2, Amagou 8, Lefevre, Julian 15, J.Greer 29 (MVP), Parker 2, Harrison 3, Zaki, Samnick 16, R.Greer 5, Bauer 4
Roanne: Byars 11, Poupet 4, Hess, Soliman 8, Cazalon 2, Rush 6, Pellin 2, Kone 5, Badiane 2, Salyers 13

On the wings of the 07-08' season MVP, Roanne is starting better in this game (5 consecutive points), with a quick 5-0 lead. However, Nancy didn't wait to answer since Samnick was hyper-active in the paint (6pts in a row) to bring back his team. Nancy, with better offensive arguments, couldn't create a gap since Ricardo Greer couldn't get some calls he expected and to let 4 possessions go out (6 turnovers at half-time). In fact, the other member of the Greer bros made an unbelievable job in this first half (15pts) with 3 consecutive treys, including one of his specialty, a buzzer-beater to end the first period. Adding some beautiful fastbreaks, Jeff put his team on a solid lead after 10 minutes (23-14).
Amagou starts the 2nd quarter with another basket from downtown, while Jeff goes on giving Nancy a 13pt-lead. This is compelling Roanne's coach to find other offensive solutions with Rush and Byars bringing some important points. Roanne is led in the rebounds category (22 vs 11) and isn't agressive enough (2 free-throws attempted). The defending champion is pulled away by 11, and will need more to offer their fans a back-to-back.
This third quarter is the beginning of a nightmare for Roanne. After a couple of points by Badiane and Pellin, and another trey from Byars, Roanne stays stuck at 41pts. Nancy puts a much higher pressure, closing some offensive options for Roanne (Pellin has too take open shots but cannot convert them) and forcing errors for Roanne. From this moment on, Roanne will vanish in this game. After 9pts scored in the third, Roanne could only score 10 in the last period.
On the other side, Jeff Greer adds 8pts consecutive points to reach a total of 29, giving hum a deserved MVP title. With 3 minutes to, Jean-Luc Monschau could offer a standing-ovation to his stars (Bauer, Greer). After 3 defeats in Bercy for the last 3 finals, Nancy has turned the curse down. SLUC Nancy is the 2008 champion and will discover the Euroleague!

French Cup Final 2008 : Villeurbanne too strong for Cholet - May 18, 2008
Villeurbanne - Cholet 86-76
Bercy, 13500 spectators
ASVEL : Nsonwu 25,Wilson 2,Foirest 9,Troutman 7,Jeanneau 3,Robert Conley (198-G/F-77, college: Clayton St.) 30,Diakite,Cakarevic 5,Sangare 5
Cholet : Golson,Beaubois 9,Marquis 10,De Colo 23,Tchicamboud 6,Ben Driss 1,Doelmann 11,Dobbins 9,Wiggins 7

It has been a long day til the beginning of the French Cup Final. After having seen Mondeville (U17 girls), Le Havre (U17 boys), Bourges (Women) succeed in all the finals of the day, Villeurbanne had to face Cholet to try to get the first title of their season back home. This game also was the re-match of the 'Semaine des as' Semi-final, easily won by Cholet 75-63.
Villeurbanne had a much better start in this game (7-0, thanks to Jeanneau, Robert Conley and Nsonwu-Amadi). Helped by a tough defense, Villeurbanne was able to brake Cholet's offenses. Kunters's players couldn't score a basket in the first 3 minutes. But the expected reaction came pretty quick. Cholet scored a 6-0 run and the game was almost tied. However, Cholet had then to deal without Claude Marquis, whistled twice in the first 5 minutes. Villeurbanne managed to take a bigger lead (27-17) just before the end of the quarter, helped by good inspirations of the local scoring machine, Robert Robert Conley.
What a great reaction for Cholet to begin this second quarter. A 10-0 run, driven by local star Nando De Colo (7pts and a superb jordan move). Cholet is back in business with 6 minutes to go in the quarter. Coach Kunter was fearing Villeurbanne's power in the paint, which was confirmed by the rebound domination (22-15). Uche N'Sonwu kept on insisting inside, compelling Marquis and his teammates to commit fouls. Cholet could find some points far from the basket (Doellman 5 pts in 2 minutes, De Colo again) to take a 4pt lead 33-37. That is the moment Robert Robert Conley chose to wake up (8pts to end the quarter), giving Villeurbanne a 2pt-lead. Cholet commited 9 turnovers, and maybe the half of them made in the last minutes, allowing the opponents to tie the game. After 2 periods, Villeurbanne leads by 2, 44-42.Robert Conley opens the 3rd period with a trey and scores 9pts in this quarter. He is now Villeurbanne's best scorer. His duet with Uche Nsonwu (8pts in the quarter) is a nightmare for Cholet, answering with De colo (7pts in the period).
After 3 periods, Villeurbanne is leading by 8 (68-60) but both De Colo and Robert Conley shows go on. Robert Conleyscores his 30th point with 7 to go, while De Colo adds a trey to reach 23 points. Villeurbanne seems to strong and leads by 16 (80-64). Robert Conley is fouled out with 5 minutes to go. As a symbol of Cholet's loss, De Colo gets fould out too with 1 minute to go . He goes back on his bench sad, he won't be MVP this time (after an MVP title for the Semaine des As and the French player MVP award). Villeurbanne wins the 2008 French Cup Final and conquers its first time since a while. Robert Conley is the MVP with 30pts, 9 rebounds and a very satisfying defense.

Semaine des As '08 : Cholet wins the '08 edition
Vichy-Cholet in the Semaine des As '08 Final
 Vichy-Cholet (11-18, 6-9, 12-19, 11-21) 40-67
As expected, it's a defensive final, with only 29pts scored in the first quarter. The better start is for Cholet and Claude Marquis, but William Gradit scored 6 consecutive points in the transition to give his team the lead. Unfortunately, those were the last points for Vichy before an eternity. Although Nando De Colo (195-G-87) was guarded closely,Cholet had a lot of rythm in offense (Dobbins, Wiggins) to make a 9-0 run and take the lead 18-11 after one period.
The second period was worse, with only 15pts scored. Cholet, and especially Alan Wiggins, are really guarding the paint with efficiency. Vichy only shot 8 from 36 at half-time and as a consequence scored 17 little points. A 10-pt gap in this type of game seems a big deal to come back.
During the third period, Vichy managed to find more offensive rythm with Wright and Ball. However, Karangwa coudn't throw a brick in the ocean in this game and his team lacked the amount of points he usually brings. Cholet, with a very efficient Wiggins, wins this third quarter 19-12 and is 10 far from a 'Semaine des As' title. A title that brings a place in the ULEB Cup!
A last period of no interest, since Cholet was controlling the game, lost since a long moment by Vichy. The ProA newcomers were just exhausted and couldn't resist to a third game in 4 days. Cholet is the new Semaine des As title holder, and the '08 MVP is Nando de Colo, for his second trophy of the year after the All-Star Game MVP award.

LNB All Star Game at Paris - Bercy
French All-Stars - Import All-Stars 94:82
The All-Star Game took place in France as the selection of the best French players took on the Import All-Stars. The basketball show was traditionally preceded by the number of contests. The annual show was tipped off by the NikeID Challenge. Jimmal Ball (178-G-78, college: Akron) was once again the best in maneuvering with the ball as he picked up the same trophy last year. The three-point shootout was won by Cedric Ferchaud (195-F-80) of Pau Orthez as he registered 22 points out of 30 max. He surpassed Yohann Sangare (193-G-83) in the final round of the contest. Finally the most spectacular Dunks Contest saw the battle of Max Kougere (197-F-87) and Guy Dupuy, who was named the best dunker in 2006. However this time Max Kougere reigned the scene conquering the minds of both spectators and judges. The main treat was served later as the All-Star got under way in front of a roaring crowd of 14,828 basketball fans at Palace Omnisport de Paris Bercy. The French players got it going from the start as Nando De Colo (195-G-87) and Cyril Julian (206-F/C-75, agency: Octagon) nailed a couple of early jumpers. Ricardo Greer (195-F/G-78, college: Pittsburgh) answered with nice moves, while Chevy Troutman (201-F-81, agency: Octagon, college: Pittsburgh) delivered in transition to keep the fans on their feet. French All-Stars however built a 28:19 lead after the opening frame. The Import All-Stars raised the tempo after the intermission and soon put themselves up. The first half ended with the Import All-Stars holding a narrow 47:45 advantage. Yohann Sangare and Alain Koffi (205-C-83) stepped up in the third stanza to drag French team back on track as they once again spurred ahead. The French All-Star team registered a tiny 67:66 lead heading into the fourth period before taking off for good. The shots were dropping from everywhere for the hosts in the final term and French All-Stars sealed a 94:82 victory at the end. Nando De Colo was named the All-Star Game MVP as he posted 13 points, 9 assists and 2 boards. Cyril Julian topscored for the French All-Stars with 16 points and 8 boards, while Yohann Sangare added 15 points for the winners. Ricardo Greer nailed 20 points and dished out 3 assists for the Import All-Stars. Chevon Chevy Troutman netted 18 points and grabbed 12 boards in defeat.
French All-Stars: Cyril Julian 16, Yohann Sangare 15, Nando De Colo 13+9 assists
