ProA final : Roanne is 2007 champion
ProA Final 2007: Nancy 74-81 Roanne (24-14,15-16,18-24,17-27)
Refs : Eddie Viator,Pierre-Yves Bichon,Carlos Mateus
Attendance : 14500
Nancy : Banks 9, Julian 15, McClintock 8,Zianveni 21 ,Samnick,Hayes,Kirksay 12 (+13reb),Milisavljevic 7,Green 2
Roanne : Niakate, 2,Marcario,Harper 10 ,Moerman,Soliman,Cazalon 5,Spencer 18, Pellin 5, Badiane 11 (+12reb ), Salyers 27
MVP : Marc Salyers (206-F-79, college: Samford) 27pts 8rebds

1st QT : The good start for Nancy
The game starts with the expected rythm. Both teams decided to play as quick as possible, using the fastbreak and transition game. Banks opens the game with a 3ptointer from the corner, while Roanne reacts thanks to Salyers and Harper with easy baskets. A lot of missed shots in this beginning, certainly because of the pressure linked to this final.Nancy, especially Banks is using first-intention shots. Although the percentage isn't very high,Nancy gives the feeling to control the game. Controlling the rebound gives them opportunities to run and find easy shots. After Banks second trey, Choulet is compelled to call his first time-out (16-6). In addition, Nancy shows an interesting defensive profile which could be the key in a final game. The consequence is Roanne unable to score for 5 minutes, with Soliman's poor free-throw to end their curse.
Nancy just seems to be invincible in the first minutes, adding points by Milisavljevic, adding 5 pts to give Nancy a 16-pt lead after 8 minutes (23-7). But Roanne is endly starting its game. A couple of free-throws, a 3ptointer by Salyers (very very active) is bringing Roanne back. The first quarter gives Nancy a 10pt lead to Nancy. The regular season leader didn't fail in taking the control of the game from the very beginning. More skills, more will, Nancy deserves a conformtable lead after 10 minutes.

2nd QT : Roanne struggles, but Roanne is still there
Salyers opens the second quarter with a 3pointer. The power-forward is sinking his 4th shot after 10 attempts in 10 minutes. Roanne is now a solid opponent and the situation compells Monschau to call his first time-out.An efficient one, since after having narrowed the game to 7 (28-21, 12th min), Roanne is struggling again in offense, only scoring on free-throws by Salyers. When Pellin misses his 2 open shots, it's the symbol of Roanne's lacks on the PG spot, as far as the offense is concerned. Roanne unable to score, Nancy is back in shape and runs again. Kirksay, Mili and Zianveni are then able to give their team a 15pt lead again. However,Roanne ends the second period with a 6-0 keeping a suspense in this game. Roanne is only 9pt far, shooting 30% from the field in this first half. A stat that lets us think the second period could be completely different.

3rd quarter : Now, it really has started
Incredible start in this quarter, Roanne is back! A couple of good shots, a 3pt from Spencer (his first), another from Harper, give Roanne a tie in this game. This team of Roanne is crazy, they only needed 3 minutes to narrow the half-time ten point gap. Roanne is now playing as the boss on the court, and all the player show their will ,symbolized by Badiane's dunk. The game is now unsettled but Nancy will end the quarter leading the game. Julian, stuck on the bench during the first quarter, is playing with a 100% efficiency and gives the points his team was expecting. After a crazy series (treys from Harper, Salyers and Spencer), Roanne is struggling a little bit. But only has a 3pt gap to fill.

4th quarter: Roanne just unstoppable
Another 3pointer story...Since half-time, the game is very unsettled. But the game is clinching on Roanne's side after 2 other baskets from downtown. Cazalon, siking a 8-meter shot after 2 airballes, ties the game. Spencer, from the baseline, sinks the basket for the lead. Roanne doesn't seem to suffer from Pellin's injury during the quarter. With 1 minute to go, Roanne leads by 5 after a tip-in dunk from Salyers, validating his MVP title in this final. This is Salyers' second personal title after the Semaine des as MVP trophy. He definely secures the win for Roanne with a steal to keep the ball with 21 seconds to go.
Roanne is the 2007 Champion and deserves the title and all the superlatives used during the year. This team was really outstanding for the whole team. "I have a last mission" said season MVP Dewarick Spencer. Mission completed, with honorable mention.

French Cup Final : Pau wins the 2007 edition, Nanterre was that close... - May 13, 2007
Nanterre vs Pau-Orthez 83-92 (20-30;25-19;24-24;14-19) 12500 spectators
Nanterre : Schmieder 4, Badji 0, Drevo 18, Darnauzan 10 (+11ast),Lema 3, Ekanga 15, Bradford 24, Patiejunas 5,Tchiloemba 4
Pau : Fauthoux 7, Harrison 6, D'Almeida 0, Greer 20, Ferchaud 11, Aaron Miles (186-G-83, agency: Octagon, college: Kansas) 23 (MVP), Rupert 0, Mahinmi 11, Vaty 0, Wright 7, Sanders 7

1st QT : The expected start in this game, since both teams lead the offensive standings in their leagues. A lot of points scored in this first period, by Fauthoux, who played his last professionnal game tonite, and particularly Ricardo Greer, sinking 2 treys in a row to take a significative lead pretty soon in this game. The offensive rythm was too strong for Nanterre, led by 10 after 10 minutes (30-20), letting us fear a pretty boring game. But Bradford was there to keep Nanterre on his shoulders, scoring 8pts in this first quarter.

2e QT :"We had to fear there could be no game in this final" declared Nanterre's coach Pascal Donnadieu during the press conference. But in fact, there was a true game, since Nanterre starting to come back during the second quarter. Drevo scored 9pts in a row, helped by Bradford (7pts more in this period) to bring back Nanterre. If the score wasn't surprising, with a very offensive rythm, the gap between two team was. Only 4pts, but the best still was about to come.

3e QT : The incredible period for Nanterre, since Nanterre managed to tie the game with a downtown trey signed Andrew Drevo and took the lead after another trey (he scored 5 in the game), compelling Gordon Herbert to call a time-out. The hardest was starting for Nanterre, since the team didn't really expect to be in this position, to be the team to being chased. That's exactly the moment chosen by Aaron Aaron Miles to make this game his. He scored an incredible number of baskets after personal achievements, and managed to bring his team back (69-69) and then gave the white jerseys the lead with a buzzer-beater mid-distance shot. Pau didn't struggle very long, and was back in business.

4e QT :The last quarter was contolled by Pau, since Nanterre never managed to narrow this little gap conceded at the end of the third period. The most important for Pau was to win the only trophy they could win, and to avoid the shame of a loss vs a ProB team. The former Euroleague competitor is now qualified for the small FIBA Cup.

For Nanterre, the most important wasn't this defeat vs an ogre of the ProA championship. This game was the occasion to prove that a long term project, areal project is being raised in Nanterre and that it is important to carry out this project in the next years. Basket-ball is definitely existing in Paris' suburbs, and that is the most impressive victory for Nanterre tonight. A great will saluted by winner's coach Gordon Herbert, who added the team deserved to play in ProA next season.
