Poitiers wins Pro B championship, advances to Pro A - Jun 21, 2009
Poitiers - Limoges 67-54
Poitiers made it in Pro B. In the Big Final, which was played last night Poitiers was better than Limoges 67-54 winning the title and at the same time getting promotion to Pro A 09/10. Rasheed Wright (196-F-80, college: ODU) and Pierre-Yves Guillard (201-F-84) were the key players in the winning squad. Wright spent 34 minutes on the court draining 18 points, but with not so brilliant shot percentage. Guillard helped with double-double, 16 points and 10 boards. Third scorer in victory was Lamine Kante (200-F-87) with 8 pts. In Limoges, Steffon Bradford (200-F-78, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management, college: Nebraska) shined with 15 points and just 2 missed shots for the game. Mathieu Tensorer (198-F-83) had 13, while Alhaji Mohammed (192-G-81, agency: Beo Basket, college: Louisville) this time stopped on just 7 pts.
As a reminder, Poitiers entered to Playoffs as No.2 with 26-8 record. In the Quarterfinals they eliminated Nantes in three games, 2-1. At the next stage they outplayed Bourg also with 2-1. On the other side, Limoges was No.5 in regular season with 21-13. In QFinals Limoges was better than Clermont. After that they made a big surprise edging the regular season champ Paris-Levallois with perfect 2-0.
