Wilke's 19 points and flawless free-throw shooting propel Keltern to DBBL championship with road clincher over Marburg-May 1, 2026
Rutronik Stars Keltern captured the 2025-26 Toyota DBBL championship on Friday afternoon, pulling away from BC Marburg 73-62 in Game 4 to clinch the best-of-five finals 3-1 on the road and claim their latest Bundesliga title.
The clincher hinged on two dominant quarters from Keltern and one extraordinary statistic: the visitors went 24-of-25 from the free-throw line (96%) compared to Marburg's 12-of-18 (66.7%) — a 12-point swing from the charity stripe in an 11-point game.
Alexandra Wilke (175-PG-1996) led the champions with 19 points, going a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line while adding three rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in 33 minutes. Maud Huijbens (190-F/C-2002, college: Gonzaga) was flawless from the field with 12 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting plus 2-of-2 from the line, and four rebounds. Karina Konstantinova (173-PG-1999) stuffed the stat sheet with nine points (7-of-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a game-high 37 minutes, while Alexandria Kiss-Rusk (194-C-1993, college: McGill) contributed eight points and eight rebounds with a block in 35 minutes.
Keltern opened the game explosively, winning the first quarter 24-14 to seize immediate control. Marburg fought back with competitive second and third periods, actually outscoring the visitors 33-25 across those two quarters to close within 47-49 heading into the fourth. But Keltern slammed the door shut with a decisive 24-15 final period, their free-throw shooting proving the killer weapon as Marburg were forced into fouling.
For Marburg, Caitlyn Jones (175-G-2001, college: Idaho) led with 16 points on four three-pointers, but found little consistent support. Allyson Fertig (193-C, college: Wyoming) battled for eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds with two blocks, while Marianna Byvatov (170-PG-2005) added nine points and five assists. But Marburg shot just 38.6 percent from the field (22-of-57) and their 18 turnovers against Keltern's 11 steals proved costly.
The series had been tightly contested. Keltern took Game 1 at home 69-65, then stole Game 2 in Marburg 69-67 to seize a commanding 2-0 lead. Marburg roared back with a dominant 76-60 Game 3 victory in Keltern to cut the series to 2-1, but Keltern responded with the composed road performance in Game 4 to close it out.
Keltern had also survived a grueling best-of-seven semifinal en route to the finals, needing six games to advance after splitting the first four games 2-2 before winning Games 5 (84-70) and 6 (65-59).

Hartmann holds her nerve as Alba Berlin stun Keltern in overtime to claim historic first DBBL Cup title-Mar 2, 2026
Alba Berlin pulled off the upset of the German women's basketball season, surviving two overtimes across two days to claim their first-ever DBBL Pokal title with a thrilling 67-62 victory over reigning champions and runaway league leaders Rutronik Stars Keltern in the final at the Sommeringhalle on March 1. The Pokal Top-4 weekend in Berlin will be remembered as one of the most dramatic in the competition's history. All three of Alba's games — semifinal and final alike — went to the wire, and the hosts' defensive identity and home-crowd energy proved the difference each time.
In Saturday's semifinal, Alba edged defending cup holders Saarlouis Royals 71-67 after overtime. Alba had built a significant lead before Saarlouis rallied, with E. Burse — last year's Pokal MVP — sinking two free throws to force overtime at 58-58. But D. Thomas drilled a crucial three-pointer off an Alina Hartmann (186-G-1995, college: Colorado) assist in the extra period, and Alba held firm from the free-throw line to advance.
The second semifinal was equally dramatic. Keltern fell behind by 21 points to BC Marburg in the third quarter after a disastrous first period, as Caitlyn Jones (175-G-2001, college: Idaho) (23 points, four threes) spearheaded a remarkable Blue Dolphins comeback. Marburg actually led 73-70 with under three minutes remaining before Keltern's championship pedigree showed — Alexandria Kiss-Rusk (194-C-1993, college: McGill) and Alexandra Wilke (175-PG-1996) combined to drag the favorites back, with Wilke's two free throws with 15 seconds remaining sealing a 79-74 escape.
Sunday's final was a masterclass of defensive basketball. Neither team could separate themselves in a physical, foul-heavy first half that ended 28-28. Keltern seized control in the fourth quarter, with Stephanie Kostowicz (190-F/C-1995, college: Milwaukee) and Wilke driving an eight-point lead that appeared decisive. But Alba captain Lena Gohlisch (173-PG-1993) ignited a furious comeback, and her teammate L. Gohlisch drilled a three-pointer to tie it at 54-54, sending the Sommeringhalle into delirium. Keltern edged ahead again in the closing seconds, but Hartmann — the DBB national team player — was fouled driving to the basket. She missed the first free throw, then coolly sank the second to force overtime at 56-56.
The extra period was a nightmare for Keltern. Their three-point shooting, which had deserted them all game, continued to betray them, and miscommunications on offense handed Alba easy opportunities. Gohlisch scored on a layup to give Alba a 62-61 lead, and after Keltern briefly equalized, Marie Bertholdt (183-F-1995, college: Santa Clara)'s free throws put the hosts ahead for good. Alba closed out the 67-62 victory to spark wild celebrations.
Wilke led Keltern with a game-high 21 points but was left without enough support. For Alba, four players reached double figures: Hartmann 12, Bertholdt 12, Tessa Stammberger (180-G/F-1993, college: Dalhousie) 11, and Gohlisch 10. It was Keltern's first defeat in a national competition in 22 games.
"It's not really been our game, but how this team comes back in overtime, takes the crowd with them and brings this thing home historically — that's incredible," said Alba manager Svenja Brunckhorst.
In the third-place game, BC Marburg beat Saarlouis Royals 73-62.
