Jure Planinic claims German BBL Hoops Agents weekly honour

Croatian-Bosnia and Herzegovina Jure Planinic (206-F-2000) put on an amazing game in the last round for SYNTAINICS MBC Weissenfels and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 26-year old forward had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Hamburg (#18, 1-6) with 20-point margin 109-89. MBC is placed at 3rd position in German BBL. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Weissenfels will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. It's Planinic's second year at MBC and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Planinic has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.6rpg) and averages solid 57.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young former international guard Michael Rataj (203-G-2003) of Ratiopharm Ulm. Rataj impressed basketball fans with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Of course he led ratiopharm Ulm to another comfortable win 81-65 over Oldenburg (3-4) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Ulm managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 12th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-4 record. Rataj is a newcomer at Ulm and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#7). He also registered 5.7 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Thomas Rutherford (204-C-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) of MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (#6). Rutherford scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Rutherford's great performance the EnBW Ludwigsburg lost 78-94 to the lower-ranked Chemnitz (#16, 2-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Ludwigsburg needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Rutherford has a great season in Germany. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.6rpg (8th best).
