Daeja Smith

San Francisco Riptide agreed terms with 29-year old center Daeja Smith (6'3''-1996, college: CS Fullerton). The last time (2020-2021) she played at BG 89 AVIDES Hurricanes Rotenburg in German 2.Bundesliga. Smith missed last four seasons and had longer break from professional basketball.
She has played also professionally in Greece (GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou).
Smith was voted to All-Big West Honorable Mention back in 2017.
She graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 2019 and it will be her seventh season as a professional player.
On Smith: Daeja is an athletic center that has great speed, strength and mobility with a commanding presence in the paint. Smith was on the Lisa Leslie Award Watch list which recognizes the top centers in the country. She has a wide offensive skill set on the low block, ranging from power finishes, a finesse touch around the rim, and counter moves against bigger defenders. Smith gets up and down the floor in transition for lay-ins or deep seals. She has great footwork with the ability to get herself open and excels in the pick and roll action. Smith led the Big West Conference in FG% at 53%, and was second in rebounds at 9 per game. Her presence is also felt on the defensive end with her ability to defend the ball screen and quickly recover. She is a prolific shot blocker from the weakside and the best defensive rebounder in the league. Smith is the consummate team player that encourages team success above her own. Overall, she finished her career with over 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 100 blocked shots.
