SV Haspe 70 rally from Game 1 defeat to win 1.Regionalliga West final

SV Haspe 70 claimed the 2025-26 1. Regionalliga West championship on Sunday, overcoming a narrow Game 1 defeat to win the best-of-three finals 2-1 against city rivals BBA Hagen in a series that showcased the Hagen basketball community at its finest.
The decider at the Otto-Densch-Halle was a microcosm of the series itself Haspe falling behind before fighting back to win. BBA surged ahead with a devastating 35-14 second quarter after trailing 15-21, but Haspe refused to fold. The visitors clawed their way back through the third period and then exploded in the fourth with a 33-23 burst to close out the 106-96 victory and spark jubilant celebrations.
Kamari Scott (190-G, college: UPEI, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) led the clincher with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Ifeanyi Okeke added 11 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. The club's website noted 30 turnovers as a persistent problem, but Haspe's fourth-quarter composure when it mattered most ultimately decided the championship.
Game 1 on May 2 at BBA's Otto-Densch-Halle had gone to the hosts 100-98 in a heartbreaker Haspe mounted a spirited comeback but fell just short. The series then shifted to the Hasper "Vibedome" for Game 2 on May 8, and Haspe delivered a statement performance for the ages: a 120-92 demolition fueled by 11-of-21 three-point shooting. The quartet of Okeke, Scott, Jan Razdevsek (191-PG-2000), and Finn Pook (193-G-2004, college: Limestone) combined for 84 points as Haspe built a lead that swelled to 40 points at its peak. Finn Finn Pook's return from injury and the mid-season additions of Okeke, Scott, and Pride proved transformative.
The all-Hagen final a rarity in German regional basketball drew packed, atmospheric crowds across all three games. BBA, led by standout point guard Elijah Stephens (175-PG, college: American), had reached the finals after a tough five-game semifinal against BSV Munsterland Baskets Wulfen, while Haspe cruised through their playoff bracket with a perfect 4-0 record before the finals.
The Regionalliga West title caps a remarkable rise for SV Haspe 70, whose second team won the Oberliga championship just last season and now competes in the 2. Regionalliga giving the Hagen district club representation across multiple tiers of the German basketball pyramid.
