Greek Cup: Panathinaikos won the Greek Cup for 19th time after beating PAOK 79-73-Feb 17, 2019
The Greek Cup changed owner this season as Panathinaikos with a short break of one year return back to the winning mode, after beating PAOK (in a very difficult and tough game) with 79-73, winning his 19th Greek cup from the season 1975-1976 when the Greek Basketball Cup begun officially. So Panathinaikos is the winner of 19 of 44 Greek Cups. Aris Thessaloniki is following with 8 titles, Olympiacos with 9, AEK Athens with 4, PAOK with 3 and Panionios with 1.
Another solid performance from Nick Calathes (198-PG-89, college: Florida) who was the MVP of the game with his 19 points, 9 assist, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block-shot and 5 turnovers at his 34 minutes in action!! and from a closed distance was teh veteran Langford at his 2nd game after his come back (injury list for nearly 3 months) as he scored 17 points with 5 rebounds. But the game changer was definetely, Kilpatrick as the American ex NBAer remain in the total zero in regard to points with 0/4 shots but his defense in the last five minutes of the game and when PAOK was leading by three 67-70 were astonishing. He stole the ball twice from Phil Gosh the top performer of PAOK, he stole the ball another one time from Tepic and played amazingly defence at the end against Gosh making hiom to shot an airball.. Rick Pitino's first title is a fact, winning his first ever title of USA and the fourth in total THE PERIODS: 15-29, 36-46, 58-59, 73-79 THE SCORERS: PAOK: Jones 9 (3 three pointers), Margaritis 13, Zaras 3, Hatcher 23 (with 4of 6 three pointers), Garrett 10 and 15 rebounds!, Gos 15 with 4 of 10 three pointers. Panathinaikos: Thomas 12 (10 rebounds), Langford 17 ( 5 rebounds), Papapetrou 10, Gist 14 and 8 rebounds, Kalthis 19, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals and 5 turnovers, Antetokounmpo 5 and Mitoglou 2 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
