The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Akranes IA as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Akranes IA smashed 5th ranked Hamar at home 99-80. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Akranes IA had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Solvi Olason (184-2004) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Croatian-Bosnian forward Gojko Sudzum (203-1994, agency: Bell Basketball) contributed with 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Josh Hardiman (198-2000, college: HIU) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Hamar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Akranes IA (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Haukar. Hamar at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Selfoss and KV Reykjavik. Hamar will play next round against Selfoss trying to get back on the winning streak. Akranes IA will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Breidablik in Kopavogur.
Another interesting game for Breidablik (3-2) which played in Reykjaik against KV Reykjavik (2-3). Fifth ranked Breidablik crushed hosts 115-77. Breidablik maintains fifth place with 3-2 record. KV Reykjavik lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Hamar and Selfoss. Breidablik will play against league's leader Akranes IA at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KV Reykjavik will play against Fjolnir (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Snaefell's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Borganes, where they defeated Skallagrimur (0-5) 87-82 on Friday. Keylane Lasisi nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Snaefell will meet league's second-placed Haukar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Skallagrimur will play against Thor Thorl (#3) in Thorlakshofn and hopes to get finally their first victory.
