Hamar (Division I) signed 32-year-old Venezuelan-Spanish international Mariana Duran for the upcoming season. She is a 172cm point guard who played college basketball at Okla City. Duran is the second foreign player on the team, joining USA's Jada Guinn. She last played for Pastoras in the Venezuelan SLBF.
During the most of last season, she spent time at U.M.F. Grindavik in the Icelandic Subway League, where she averaged 11.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 5.9apg, and 1.5spg in 14 games. She helped the team reach the cup final. She also played for AD Vagos in the Portuguese Liga Feminina.
Duran has been a member of the Venezuelan international program for some years. She has regularly played for the Venezuelan senior team since 2010 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2009.
Duran also represented Venezuela at the Olympic Games Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Medellin (Colombia) two years ago. During this event, she scored an average of 8 ppg and had 4.7 rpg.
She is a very experienced player. Duran has quite traveled the world as her pro career brought her to five different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). She has played professionally also in Argentina (Las Heras), Germany (Osnabrueck), Italy (Salerno, Acciaierie Valbruna Bolzano and Roseto) and Portugal.
Duran won the Venezuelan Superliga championship title in 2024.
She graduated from Oklahoma City University in 2017 and it will be her ninth season in pro basketball. Duran played also for Panola College for one year.
