American Guard Leilani Kapinus (178-G, agency: LBM Management) had a very impressive game in the last round for Fjolnir Reykjavik, receiving a Hoops Agents Division I Player of the Week award for round 5.
The player had a double-double of 25 points and 21 rebounds, while her team in a lost game to Thor AK (#2, 3-0) 59-81. Fjolnir moved-up to the 5th position in Icelandic Division I. Fjolnir is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 2nd lost game this season out of 4 games. In the team's last game Kapinus had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Fjolnir's top player in her first season with the team. Former Vanderbilt University star has very solid stats this year. Kapinus is in league's top in points (3rd best: 24.3ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 16.3rpg), assists (9th best: 4.0apg) and averages impressive 2.0bpg,5.0spg and 62.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was American Chloe Wilson (180-F) of league's second-best Thor AK Akureyri. Wilson had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds. Of course she led Thor to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Fjolnir (#5, 2-2) 81-59. This victory allowed Thor to move up to second position in the standings. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Wilson is a newcomer at Thor, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.3ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 18.0rpg and 3.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Polish guard Katarzyna Trzeciak (172-PG-1992) of Athena-UMFK Reykjavik (#3). Trzeciak showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists (!!!) in the last round. She was a key player of Athena, leading her team to a 130-55 easy win against KV (#11, 0-4). Athena needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Trzeciak has a great season in Iceland. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.5apg (7th best).
