The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Njardvik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Njardvik smashed bottom-ranked Hamar at home 88-61. Njardvik made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Njardvik outrebounded Hamar 46-34 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Swedish Paulina Hersler (193-1994, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Danielle Rodriguez (177-1993, college: Utah) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Spanish-Venezuelan point guard Mariana Duran (172-1993, college: Okla City) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Hamar. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Njardvik have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Grindavik. Hamar at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Hamar will play next round against Tindastoll trying to get back on the winning streak. Njardvik will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Armann in Reykjavik.
Another interesting game for Valur (5-2) which played in Hafnarfjordur against 4th placed Haukar (4-3). Fifth ranked Valur crushed hosts 101-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Haukar. It was a great evening for Canadian-Italian forward Alyssa Cerino (186-1997) who led her team to a victory scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. ReShawna Stone helped adding 25 points and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward Krystal Freeman (183-1999, college: Tulane) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valur moved-up to third place, which they share with KR. Defending champion Haukar dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Keflavik. Valur will play against league's second-placed Grindavik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haukar will play against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also a 17-point tough home defeat of 3rd ranked KR in a game in Reykjavik versus Grindavik (#2) 85-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KR. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was an exceptional evening for Abby Beeman who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Molly Kaiser came up with 19 points for KR in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Grindavik (6-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Njardvik. Newly promoted KR keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Valur. Grindavik will meet Valur (#4) in the next round. KR will play against Keflavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 7 Armann was smashed by Stjarnan on the road 103-81. Tindastoll lost to Keflavik on its own court 88-96.
