The most important game in the last round took place in Reykjavik between second ranked Grindavik (6-2) and fourth ranked Valur (6-2) on Saturday night. Grindavik was defeated by Valur in a tough game on the road 80-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Grindavik. Valur made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Grindavik 50-33 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian-Italian forward Alyssa Cerino (186-1997) who added 22 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Swedish Ellen Nystrom (185-1993, college: Colorado St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Valur moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Grindavik. Valur is looking forward to face Stjarnan (#6) on the road in the next round. Grindavik will play against Keflavik (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Subway League top team - Njardvik (7-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Armann (1-7) in Reykjavik 94-83. The winners were led by international guard Danielle Rodriguez (177-1993, college: Utah) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Paulina Hersler supported her with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Njardvik's coach Einar Johannsson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists by did not help to save the game for Armann. Njardvik have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Armann lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Njardvik will play against Haukar (#7) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round where they are favorite. Armann will play on the road against Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Maddie Sutton who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. Mariana Duran produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Tindastoll maintains eighth position with 2-6 record. Hamar at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Tindastoll will meet at home Armann (#9) in the next round. Hamar will play against KR in Reykjavik and hopes to get finally their first victory.
In the last two games of round 8 KR was destroyed by Keflavik on the opponent's court 86-63. Haukar unfortunately lost to Stjarnan in a home game 82-93.
