Best players of Icelandic Division I round 16

American Leilani Kapinus (178-G, agency: LBM Management) had an amazing evening in the last round for Fjolnir Reykjavik and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Division I Player of the Week award for round 16.
The guard had a double-double of 37 points and 15 rebounds, while her team crushed Thor AK (#2, 10-2) with 19-point margin 94-75. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Fjolnir maintains the 3rd position in Icelandic Division I. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fjolnir will need more victories to improve their 10-3 record. In the team's last game Kapinus had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Fjolnir's top player in her first season with the team. Vanderbilt University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Kapinus is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.6ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 15.3rpg), assists (4th best: 5.3apg) and averages solid 2.3bpg,4.8spg and 65.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Hungarian power forward Emese Vida (190-F/C-1993, agency: Dagger Basket) of Vestri. Vida impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 34 rebounds. Bad luck as Vestri lost that game 67-80 to the higher-ranked Njardvik 2 (#7, 5-8). Vestri are still at the very bottom. 13 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Vida is a newcomer at Vestri and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Chloe Wilson (180-F) of second-ranked Thor AK Akureyri. Wilson scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Wilson's great performance the Thor lost 75-94 to #3 ranked Fjolnir. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Thor had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 2nd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Wilson's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Wilson has a great season in Iceland. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.9ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 14.4rpg (4th best). She also has 2.8spg and a FGP of 62.2%.
