Hapoel Haifa (National League) signed 38-year-old former Israeli-American international 203cm center Alex Tyus (college: Florida) for the upcoming season. He was the best rebounder at Bordo in the Turkish TBL league, averaging 9.7ppg, 8.8rpg, and 1.6bpg in 32 games last season. Tyus helped them reach the Turkish TBL Federation Cup Semifinals and was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TBL Third Team. In the previous (2024-25) season, he played for Maccabi Tel Aviv (Winner League) and Openjobmetis Varese (Serie A) in the Italian league.
He is a very experienced player. Tyus has played professionally in France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket), Italy (Cantu), Russia (UNICS Kazan and Runa Basket), Spain (Real Madrid), Turkey (Efes, Pinar Karsiyaka and Galatasaray) and Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Ashdod).
He played in the final of Israeli League in 2025. He was selected to Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention in 2020. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at H.Haifa.
Tyus graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 and is entering his 16th season in pro basketball.
