Superliga Round 14 (Regular Season): Prishtina keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Prishtina as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Prishtina defeated 5th ranked Penza at home 81-70. American power forward Jade Williams (196-1998, college: Duke) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import guard Asianae Johnson (173, college: MSU) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Saranda Daci (190-1993) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds for Penza. Prishtina (13-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Penza at the other side dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Trepca. Penza will play next round against strong Bashkimi trying to get back on the winning streak. Prishtina will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked United at home.

It was a key game for the top position in the league. American guard Asianae Johnson (173, college: MSU) scored 26 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Elektra Zykaj chipped in 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The former international guard Arbnore Perquku (176-1988) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Prishtina have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Bashkimi dropped to the second place with two games lost. Prishtina will play against bottom-ranked United (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Bashkimi will play against Penza (#4) in Peja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Peja between Bashkimi and Peja 03. First ranked Bashkimi (12-2) got a very close victory on the road over one of their biggest challengers Peja 03 (8-6). Bashkimi managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 in the game for the second place. Sarah Mgbeike notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Even 29 points by Agnesa Rrahmani did not help to save the game for Peja 03. Bashkimi have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Despite that victory Bashkimi went down to second position due to points difference. Newly promoted Peja 03 keeps the third place with six games lost. Bashkimi will meet Penza (#4) in the next round. Peja 03 will play against Trepca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 14: Penza smashed Trepca on the road 84-65. Bottom-ranked United was destroyed by Peja 03 on its own court 48-84. Trepca unfortunately lost to United in a road game 47-64.

Trepca - Penza 65-84

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Penza (4-10) crushed one of their biggest challengers Trepca (4-10) in Mitrovice 84-65 on Sunday. Penza dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Trepca's 22 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Trepca 45-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Penza looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Saranda Daci (190-1993) notched a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 blocks to lead the effort and center Anita Grainca (187-2004) supported her with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Five Penza players scored in double figures. Penza's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard MarShay Moore (173, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Trepca. Her fellow American import swingman Jessica Wilson added 17 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Penza moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Trepca. Trepca lost fifth consecutive game. Penza will meet at home league's second-placed Bashkimi in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Trepca will play against Peja 03 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather expected game when 6th ranked United (1-13) was smashed at home by third ranked Peja 03 (8-6) 84-48 on Sunday. Peja 03 held United to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Peja 03 forced 19 United turnovers and had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Peja 03 looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by United's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Peja 03 made 7 blocks. U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-1997, college: Oakland) notched 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Zerina Shatri (188-1995, college: OLLU) supported her with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Peja 03 players scored in double figures. Peja 03's coach Furkan Saglik felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds by Etna Rexhepi (180-2006) did not help to save the game for United. Guard Viola Syla (175-2004) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. United held Trepca to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. United forced 19 Trepca turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Anila Selmani notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Anesa Korqa (170-2003) supported her with 11 points and 8 rebounds. United's coach L Ibrahimi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 5 assists by American guard MarShay Moore (173, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Trepca. Her fellow American import swingman Jessica Wilson added 9 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. United maintains sixth position with 1-13 record. It was Trepca's fifth loss in a row. They keep the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Penza. United will meet league's leader Prishtina on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Trepca will play against Peja 03 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
