Superliga Round 9 (Regular Season): Junior 06 edges Peja 03 by two points

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Superliga took place in Prizren. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Peja 03 (6-3) to fifth ranked Junior 06 (3-6) 77-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Peja 03. Strangely Peja 03 outrebounded Junior 06 43-31 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Abby Ogle (173, college: Kent St.) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals. Forward Tanyia Gordon (178, college: Lander) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Brailyn Tate (183, college: Lane) who recorded a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Newly promoted Junior 06 maintains fifth place with 3-6 record. Peja 03 at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Junior 06 are looking forward to face higher ranked Prishtina (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peja 03's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Peja Penza.
An exciting game was played in Peja. First ranked Bashkimi faced 3rd placed Penza. Guests from Prizren (8-1) defeated host Penza (5-4) 79-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Penza. It was a good game for the former international power forward Aulona Muhadri (182-1998) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. Caterrion Thompson contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jeanae Terry (155-2001, college: Purdue) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for Penza. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Penza at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Bashkimi will play against bottom-ranked Trepca (#6) in Mitrovice in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Penza's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Peja to the arena Peja 03.

Kayla Johnson stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. The best for the losing side was Vivian Woo with 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Prishtina maintains fourth place with 4-5 record. Loser Trepca stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Prishtina will meet at home Junior 06 (#5) in the next round. Trepca will play against the league's leader Bashkimi in Prizren and hope to win that game.

Trepca - Prishtina 69-77

The game in Mitrovice was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Prishtina (4-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Trepca (1-8). Prishtina managed to secure a 8-point victory 77-69 on Sunday. American Kayla Johnson (178, college: Alaska) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and her fellow American import guard Alaina Rice (173, college: Syracuse) chipped in 11 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Vivian Woo (170-2000, college: Menlo, agency: Interperformances) with 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international guard Alma Muzliukaj (176-2004) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Prishtina maintains fourth place with 4-5 record. Loser Trepca stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Prishtina will meet at home Junior 06 (#5) in the next round. Trepca will play against the league's leader Bashkimi in Prizren and hope to win that game.
