Round 10: Bashkimi beat Tirana

The Regular Season in Liga Unike just ended. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kosovan Bashkimi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Bashkimi smashed 5th ranked Albanian Tirana in Prizren 93-68. Bashkimi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Arbnore Perquku (176-1988) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. American guard Khadija Brown-Haywood (180-1994, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Bashkimi's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Breana Bey (175-1995, college: Stetson, agency: IceBasket) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Bashkimi (7-3) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Flamurtari. Tirana at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost.
Top ranked Flamurtari (7-3) recorded its third loss in Vlore. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Partizani (5-5) 73-68. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jomyra Mathis (173, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. La'Sonja Edwards contributed with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Bosnian center Samra Omerbasic (191-1990) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for Flamurtari. Partizani maintains fourth position with 5-5 record. Defending Albanian champion Flamurtari still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with Bashkimi.

At the losing side Jeta Zeka responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Prishtina have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 6-4 record behind leader Bashkimi. Penza lost sixth consecutive game. Defending Kosovan champion stay at the bottom place with eight games lost.

One of the most interesting games of round 10 was a derby match between two teams from Kosovo. The game took place in Peja where third ranked Prishtina outleveled host Penza (2-8) 88-65. Prishtina dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Penza's 22. Prishtina forced 20 Penza turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Penza's players. American forward Sarah Mgbeike (185, college: OLLU) scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Kaela Hilaire (157-1998, college: Stony Brook) chipped in 15 points, 15 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Prishtina players scored in double figures. Prishtina's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Jeta Zeka responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian Lejla Omerbasic (182-1997) scored 26 points.
