EBL Finals Game 3: Untouchable Buducnost won another Championship! - May 27, 2014
The season in Montenegrin basketball ended tonight and we got the new-old champion. Its Buducnost, the best team in Montenegro for years, that had no problems in the third game against Zeta 2011 (89-73). The game looked like a scrimmage and nobody would have thought that those two teams that played in Moraca hall tonight played the finals of a national league. But the difference in quality is sky high and although Zeta 2011 did its best to fight against Buducnost in last three games (and in some moments its players really played well) its lack of rotation and injury problems (Mihailo Sekulovic (205-C-91), Vladan Jocovic (211-C-82) and Marko Calic (195-G/F-86) were all injured during the finals) did not allow them to do more damage in the finals. But Zeta 2011 is the biggest surprise in Montenegrin basketball this season and gets credit for that.
Tonight Buducnost was led by Vladimir Mihailovic (193-G-90) who had a great shooting night and scored 28 points. On the other side responded former Buducnost talent Balsa Radunovic (207-F/C-80, agency: Interperformances) who led the scorers with 33 points and added also 15 rebounds and 4 assists.
Buducnost edge Sutjeska to claim Cup title - Feb 10, 2014
Buducnost - Sutjeska 83:57
Buducnost conquered the Montenegrin Cup title. They eased past Sutjeska in the Final. Nikola Ivanovic (190-PG-94, agency: Beo Basket) came up with 21 points to pace the favourites. Buducnost and Sutjeska stayed close throughout the first half. Buducnost eked out a 17:14 lead after ten minutes. They raced to a 6-point advantage after the first half 36:30. But Stujeska ran out of steam in the second half. Buducnost went on a 30:11 rally in the third quarter to ensure a comfortable 25-point lead before the final frame. Buducnost kept their opponents at bay throughout the fourth stanza and sealed the winning outcome. Cedomir Vitkovac (201-F-82, agency: Beo Basket) had 12 points, while Vladimir Mihailovic (193-G-90) and Bojan Subotic (203-F-90) netted 11 points each for the winners. Radoje Vujosevic (210-C-89, agency: Interperformances) answered with 20 points for Sutjeska. Nikola Zizic (197-G/F-94) chipped in 9 points in the loss.
