Prva A Liga Round 5 (Regular Season): KAM Basket lose to Vardar

The biggest surprise took place in Skopje where host Vardar (5-0) edged league's leader KAM Basket (4-1) 64-62 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KAM Basket. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Undefeated Vardar have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion KAM Basket dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with MZT. They were replaced at the leadership position by Vardar. KAM Basket will play next round against strong Grizli trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Vardar will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked MZT. It will be extra interesting game as MZT is their local rival from Skopje.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Grizli. Badel left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Probasket. Grizli at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Badel will play against bottom-ranked Struga 2009 (#8) on the road in the next round. Grizli will play against the league's second-placed KAM Basket (#2) in Kamenica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Struga 2009 (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-53 loss to fifth ranked Kriva Palanka (2-3) in Palanka on Tuesday evening. Kriva Palanka maintains fifth place with 2-3 record. Struga 2009 lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Kriva Palanka will meet Probasket (#7) in the next round. Struga 2009 will play against Badel and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 5 Probasket was crushed by MZT in Skopje 75-55.

There was no surprise in Skopje where 6th ranked Probasket (1-4) was crushed by fourth ranked MZT (4-1) 75-55 on Saturday. MZT moved-up to second place, which they share with KAM Basket. Probasket lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Badel. MZT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Skopje to the arena Vardar.
