Merritt Hempe (ex Valencia) agreed terms with Olympiacos

Olympiacos Piraeus (A1) strengthened their roster with the addition of 29-year-old American (who also has a North Macedonian passport) 190cm forward Merritt Hempe (college: Georgia) for the 2024-25 season. She most recently played at Valencia Basket Club in the Spanish LF Endesa, where she recorded 7.4ppg and 3.5rpg in 39 games last season. Hempe also played 14 games in the Euroleague, averaging 7.8ppg, 2.8rpg, and 1.2apg. In the 2022-23 season, she played at Nesibe in the Turkish league, and briefly played for USK Praha in the Czech Republic league and Casademont Zaragoza in Spain. She has been regularly called up to the North Macedonian Senior National Team since 2022.
Hempe is a very experienced player. She has played professionally in Germany (ChemCats Chemnitz), Russia (Kazanochka), Spain (Ensino, Cadi La Seu and Casablanca), and Turkey.
Among many awards, she was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LFB Honorable Mention back in 2020.
Hempe graduated from the University of Georgia in 2016, and it will be her ninth season in pro basketball.
