Prva A Liga Round 5 (Regular Season): KAM Basket lose to KAM Basket

The biggest surprise took place in Palanka where host Kriva Palanka (4-0) beat league's leader KAM Basket (4-1) 70-54 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KAM Basket. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Kriva Palanka have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader which they share with defeated KAM Basket. Defending champion KAM Basket still keeps top place with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Kriva Palanka who have the same record. KAM Basket will play next round against Grizli trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kriva Palanka will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked MZT in Skopje.
Undefeated Struga 2009 (4-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fifth ranked Rinia. Visitors were rolled over by Rinia 69-50. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Struga 2009. Rinia (3-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Struga 2009 at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with KAM Basket. Rinia will play against Gostivar (#6) at home in the next round. Struga 2009 will play against Ponikva (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Skopje: Vardar (#5) and MZT (#4). Vardar (3-2) crushed visiting MZT (2-3) by 18 points 69-51. Vardar moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser MZT dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Gostivar. Vardar's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Skopje to the arena Badel.

Other games of round 5 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Janbor was defeated by Gostivar in a road game 48-30. Ohrid smashed Ponikva at home 20-0. Badel destroyed Probasket on the opponent's court 80-45. Sport Tim outscored Shkupi in a home game 81-39.

Gostivar - Janbor 48-30

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Gostivar and 7th ranked Janbor had identical 1-3 record. This time Gostivar used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 48-30 on Saturday night. Gostivar (2-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with MZT. Ponikva will play against the league's leader Struga 2009 (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Probasket - Badel 45-80

Very expected game in Kavadartsi where bottom-ranked Probasket (0-5) was rolled over by third ranked Badel (3-1) 80-45 on Saturday. Badel have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sport Tim. Loser Probasket still closes the standings with five games lost. Badel's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Skopje Vardar.
