Prva A Liga Round 1 (Regular Season): Kriva Palanka hands first loss to Patriot

The Regular Season in Prva A Liga just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Patriot on the court of Kriva Palanka on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by Kriva Palanka 103-44. Kriva Palanka dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Patriot's 26. Kriva Palanka forced 29 Patriot turnovers and outrebounded them 50-26 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kriva Palanka looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Abby Niehues (186-1999, college: S.Nazarene) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Alexis Poole (188-1999, college: KSU) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. Kriva Palanka's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds for Patriot. Kriva Palanka is looking forward to face MZT in Skopje in the next round. Patriot will play at home against Vardar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for KAM Basket which played in Skopje against MZT. KAM Basket had an easy win 69-53. stepped up and scored 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Ivana Kmetovska chipped in 5 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side American Abby Niehues (186-1999, college: S.Nazarene) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds. KAM Basket will play against Badel in Skopje in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MZT will play at home against Kriva Palanka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Probasket in a game in Kavadartsi versus undefeated Badel 87-83. Marija Nikolov nailed 23 points and 9 assists for the winning side. Badel's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Kayla Thomas came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for Probasket in the defeat. Badel will meet KAM Basket in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Probasket will play against Sport Tim and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 1 Sport Tim lost to Vardar on the road 50-94.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 20 points and 10 rebounds by Tea Trajkovska of Vardar.

Cleary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Badel's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Kayla Thomas came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the former international center Ivana Kmetovska (190-1995, college: WSU) added 23 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Probasket in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Badel will meet KAM Basket in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Probasket will play against Sport Tim and hope to win that game.

Vardar used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from 94-50 on Monday night. Vardar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sport Tim's 26. Vardar forced 19 Sport Tim turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Sport Tim's players. nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and accounted for 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Vardar players scored in double figures. Tamara Veselinovic came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Lindsey Cleary (183-1997, college: CMS) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sport Tim in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vardar will meet Patriot in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sport Tim will play against Probasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
